Elmet

The Glorious Realm of...

Lay of the Land

Elmet covers a large area of central Albion. Bordered by towering mountains, the wild land of Cymrja and the enchanted woodland of the High Elves, it is a strange land and separate from the other kingdoms that surround it.

The rolling Worcester Plains border the Kingdom of Deira and it is here that the headwaters of the River Thames can be found. Small villages house peasant labourers, while the halls of nobles stand on the hilltops above. Merchants ply their trade along the few good roads and trade in mostly basic foodstuffs and the plentiful game of the region. Many folk are still wary of the darkness that lingers around the ancient ruins of Erness Marr and doors are strongly barred at night.

Salop is a barren heathland that lies on the border with the Kingdom of Anglia, between the Pennine and Middle Mountains. Shepards are found in great number tending their flocks and driving off the large wolves they prey upon them. Traders can be seen with cartloads of wool on their way to the weavers in Manchester or risking the road past the Sherwood on their way to Nottingham.

The Sook of Chester lies on the border with Cymrja and the thick woodlands are often the scene of cattle raids and skirmishes with brigands from both sides of the border. Several large castles stand guard over the fief, with knights ready to protect the commoners from any possible threat. The deep and ancient woodlands are a plentiful source of firewood and a chief export is quality charcoal that can be taken as far as the foundries of London Town.
